This week’s New Celebrity, Brittany Noelle is an ambitious and entrepreneurial influencer. She knows that being an influencer is not only about gaining a following, but it’s about your purpose for having your audience. Brittany is always looking for more ways to grow so that she can help more people with fitness. She has been a fitness star her whole life and now she is sharing her expertise with the world. Brittany shared with us how she gained her first 10k followers, and she also gave us tips for how you can be a better influencer. It doesn’t matter if you are a popular athlete or a fashion blogger, anyone can benefit from Brittany Noelle’s words of advice.
For Brittany Noelle, gaining her first following was a bit of luck and a lot of hard work. She joined Instagram back in 2012 when it first grew to popularity. At the time she viewed her account as an extension of her online portfolio. Lucky for Brittany she shared a gym with a girl who was already being featured in fitness profiles. She immediately seized this opportunity and connected with the girl and those profiles. She reached out for shoutouts whenever she could until a popular web page featured one of Brittany’s photos and her followers began to skyrocket. That is how she got her first 10k followers. “My phone was blowing up at the front desk.” But Brittany Noelle didn’t coast entirely off her luck, she hit the ground running and put in the work to get more followers. She collaborated with other pages offering shoutouts for shoutouts. “We really work together on promoting each other and sharing each other’s content”. “That helps to be able to grow”. A new influencer can learn from Brittany’s past and follow in her footsteps to collaborate to grow their audience. One should not underestimate the power of networking!
Not only can you gain insight from Brittany Noelle’s past, but she also gave us some sage advice for any influencer. Brittany wanted to stress that influencer life is not always glitz and glamour, a lot of people don’t understand the difficulties. Influencing requires hard work on and off-screen. You also need to show up and be consistent or else you won’t grow. This is why it is very important to “be authentic”. You can’t put on an act every day of your life, so it is best to share the real you when trying to grow as an influencer. “The best way to be consistent with something is if you actually enjoy it”. Brittany Noelle also stressed the importance of a purpose. You shouldn’t be becoming an influencer just to gain a following. You need a positive reason so that you can affect positive change. For example, Brittany wants to be the first person people think about when thinking about fitness influencers. “I would like to be the Oprah of fitness”. She wants to help anyone and everyone take on their fitness journey and influencing allows her to reach people she may not be able to reach herself. But when you share your content in a way as she does, Brittany urges you to be practical. Instead of showing your followers the cool stunts you can do, help them create easily at-home workouts that they can benefit from. You don’t have to be a gym junkie to be an influencer. You just need to understand that fitness is different for everyone.
Finally, Brittany Noelle had some advice for the fitness influencers or anyone on their fitness journey. When focusing on a fit lifestyle it is best to not only follow fitness-related stuff on social media. Bombarding yourself with constant images of fit people can hurt your self-image and can create an unreachable standard. “Not all fit people walk around with a six-pack 24/7”. Brittany Noelle also urges you to make sure you are enjoying what you are doing. It is better to work smarter than harder. “Fitness is a journey, it takes a lot of hard work, but you don’t need to suffer to get there”. Also just because other influencers have managers doesn’t mean you need one. Brittany Noelle doesn’t have one and she is doing a great job. Finding a manager is very much about return on investment. If they are not bringing anything to the table you can’t, then there is no use in hiring them. It’s about finding the right fit, but it’s ok if there isn’t one just yet.
Brittany Noelle has become a big fitness influencer because of her work ethic and her constant drive to continue to expand her reach. One can learn from her past and apply it to their future to start their influencer journey. The rest of the tips she gave us can help you as an influencer along your way to a bigger and broader audience. If you have a voice inside telling you to go out there and grow your audience, do it right now. “I would tell myself to follow my intuition sooner”!
