If there’s any advice ToriClark_Bossmode wants you to take from her, it is the importance of collaboration. The benefits of influencer marketing are not always centered around financial gain, but rather on building relationships, credibility, and a strong influence. Continue reading for some key characteristics to keep in mind when it comes to collaboration!
It takes a village
Not everything must be done alone. Having the ability to connect with others who are already doing what you’re doing, allows you to fill in the gaps that you may have had difficulty with. Everyone has an idea of what they want and the content they want to put out there. “It takes a village. The more people you network with the better your project will be in the end.”
Some ideas are better than others
“I love to have a vague idea of what we’re doing and then having people say, ‘What about this?’ That’s what collaboration is. It grows and grows. Some ideas are good, some are not. It’s still good to hear them and express them.” Originally Tori was going to do her astrology project all by herself until she realized she wanted more out of it. She said to herself, “The project that I want has to be bigger and better and involve more people so that it can be a beautiful thing.” The idea has now evolved from dressing up alone in her home to creating extravagant photoshoots, having the images made into watercolor by JoeFromTexas, and even developing a zodiac calendar. You never know what your project awaits.
Don’t set too many expectations
The message Tori would love to share with others is the possibility of collaboration and to be realistic about it. “What you are getting isn’t necessarily always what you want, but you should value what you do get and not set all these expectations for it. I think that’s what makes some people disappointed. It’s totally okay if you can’t do everything or cant be involved in every part of the project.” You will disappoint a few people, but stay true to your vision and take only the advice of those fighting in your arena.
Think about the bigger picture
A big misconception with many influencers or people wanting to get into the industry is that you need to be making money for the content you are creating. “Don’t think that if you’re not getting paid it isn’t worth your time and effort because I think the people who give the most heart and passion and want to be involved are the people who get the most out of it.” Sign up for that unpaid internship, take those volunteer hours, get your friends together and make your own project! The possibilities are endless, only you can control your future, so start picturing it!
Find the right team
You are only as good as the team you collaborate with! It’s important to find people that have similar goals and mindsets, but Tori Clark also mentioned that when she looks for a team, she searches for discipline and commitment. She understands that “it’s not my project, it’s our project”, so she needs her team to feel that sense of ownership. Undivided attention and reliable help are keys to a successful collab.
