Tori Clark likes to look at her Instagram profile as her professional portfolio, showcasing all of her many talents, interests, and projects. “Being a social media manager has made me look at my own social media. I want to gain more of a following because it could help with getting hired as a director or actress. People want you to have followers to bring people to their project.” Tori began setting up her profile into themes that allowed her to view chunks of her content at a time. Due to Instagram’s picky algorithm, she has found that keeping an organized and polished profile has helped her following. Not only did she use her sectioned profile to look back at all of her accomplishments, but it allows future collaborators to see how versatile the New Celebrity can be.
Thinking of your social media as a business tool can be beneficial for your brand. It’s important to remember that even if you’re not getting paid at times, that doesn’t mean it isn’t worth your time or effort. “I think the people who give the most heart and passion and want to be involved are the people who get the most out of it.”
Tori’s strategy as far as posting on social media is making at least three posts per week and one reel. Aesthetically, that is what works best for her profile and the content she shares. She recommends tagging people in stories they would be interested in because they have the option to share it directly onto their story, which reaches a wider audience. Tori also mentioned that taking time to comment back to those engaging with you is an extra step to gaining and keeping a solid follower base.
Tori explained the importance of collaboration in the entertainment world. Collaborating with other people in the industry is key when it comes to creating content. She even admits that she originally wanted to do her entire astrology campaign project all on her own. “I realized I wanted more out of it. It was boring to me and I said to myself, ‘The project that I want, I want it to be bigger, better, and involve more people so that it can be this beautiful thing. I couldn’t have executed my vision without everyone else’s input.’” After trying to reach out to over 25 people, she found her loyal and dedicated team. As the creative director on the project, Tori made sure to structure the project with the utmost professionalism. She created a 24-page slideshow pitching to each of the members of her team. She knew it would take a village, so she set her expectations early. “The more people you can get to bring stuff to your project, the better it will be in the end.” Read more about how Tori Clark finds the right people to collaborate with in tomorrow’s Listicle!
Tori’s best advice for aspiring influencers is to just be courageous in anything you do and just go for it. “Getting that experience is good and putting yourself out there no matter what, no matter who you are, no matter how many followers you have. If you share your art on any public platform, good job. You’re in the arena!” She encourages others to work towards their artistic aspirations regardless of any negativity. Focusing on your intent and the reason you started are the keys to staying disciplined and committed. “Everybody knows that if you have a lot of followers, you can get money, you can get sponsors, you can get all of these different things. I don’t think everyone sees social media as a business.”
