From the Florida heat to the Los Angeles beaches, Lindsey Wedgeworth has followed her dancing dreams coast to coast! As she continues to focus on her dancing career, Lindsey talked to New Celebrity about the TikTok that made her viral and her passion for health and wellness.
It was not long after she learned to walk that Lindsey learned to dance! At a young age, Lindsey’s mom enrolled her in classes where she practiced ballet, tap dance, jazz, Latin, and hip hop dancing. With a diverse dancing background, Lindsey moved into competitive dancing and even landed a role as a cast member for the Royal Caribbean Cruise lines. Living at sea for 7 months, Lindsey thanks the experience for making her more open-minded! “In that environment, you’re just surrounded by such diverse, beautiful types of humans that people don’t really get to experience in their life.” She took this mindset with her to Los Angeles where she decided to further pursue her talent.
Focusing on her talents, Lindsey earned herself a spot dancing for the Debbie Reynolds Scholarship Program. Lindsey was just starting to make a name for herself until COVID-19 shut the world down. “We were getting ready to take our headshots, get signed with agencies and it was all coming for me.” With the majority of Los Angeles shut down for almost a year, the hopes of anything reopening started to dim. Unfortunately, Lindsey said goodbye to LA and traveled home to Florida. Little did she know, there was so much waiting for her!
Newly single, back home, but stuck at home, left Lindsey with one important task, TikToking! Lindsey shared her failed dating story as part of the “put a finger down…” challenge, where Lindsey went on a date with a boy who seemed like her Prince Charming but ghosted her the next day. She posted the TikTok at a friend’s house, “I woke up the next morning, and I looked at my phone and I was like ‘what happened?’” Lindsey’s DM’s were flooded with questions and concerns about her Prince Charming. Since going viral, Lindsey has used her TikTok to share other entertaining things in her life. “There are all these things that have just happened to me and are all just funny because my life is kind of like that.” TikTok and Instagram are Lindsey’s favorite apps and she’s utilized both to reach her audience and build her brand, “I want to keep it relatable but also polished.”
Dance is not the only love in her life! Growing up as a dancer, Lindsey has always had an interest in health, fitness, and wellness. However, later on in her dance career, Lindsey found herself trying some trendy diets that she felt “wrong” to promote to her audience. It was “wrong of me to be promoting and sharing these healthy things when I don’t really know any of the science behind it.” This realization led Lindsey to enroll in the Institute of Integrated Nutrition, one of the largest nutrition schools online. Lindsey credits her school for her passion and love for health and wellness, “That’s what holistic health is all about. It’s more than just what you’re eating or working out.”
What started as a group chat of a few of Lindsey’s followers, has grown into an empire of wellness. Lindsey was tired of seeing unrealistic meal plans and fitness videos with the same tips and recommendations, so she created “Worth It Wellness”. Lindsey described “Worth It Wellness” as her online health coaching, where she shares health tips with other women as well as the promotion of community, acceptance, and holistic health. “I’m excited to grow that platform and create a business to help women.” As she did with her small group chat, she wants to build a community where everything is covered and everyone is held accountable! From motivational quotes in the morning to weekly check-ins, Lindsey is excited to create a platform that is accessible for everyone and is easy to follow and understand.
Moving forward, Lindsey is eager to see where her platform goes in the following years. With hopes of being a household name on the health and wellness side of social media, Lindsey is determined to build her name and brand to uplift others. We are sure that with her plans and strategies, it is totally possible.
